Supporting Hebridean Pride

Chris Ann, Michelle and Janet took part in the Hebridean Pride event on the 1st June by having a UNISON recruitment stall. We were the only Trade Union present at the event and we highlighted the UNISON commitment to fighting discrimination and prejudice in the workplace on behalf of all its members. We did not let the rain dampen our spirits.

Watty Gaffney and Lynn Sheridan came up from Glasgow to support the Branch during this event and, despite the downpour, had a great day. Videos from the day have been shared on Twitter, Facebook, UNISON Scotland, Equality Network and much much more, thanks to Watty with his communication contacts and to Lynn.

We had a good amount of interest at the stall, handed out over a dozen membership forms, distributed some LGBT freebies, provided advice to members during the day, had fun and met some lovely people along the way.

This was UNISON’s first ever “outside” event, and despite the rain, we would be happy to do this again.

Our Health Heroes Awards

Nominate your 2019 Health Hero by completing the below form.

The Our Health Heroes Awards 2019, brought to you by Skills for Health, celebrate the unsung members of the UK’s health sector. There are 1.7 million people working in the health sector in the UK and these awards aim to recognise the significant contribution they make – whether they are support workers, apprentices, integrated teams or workforce planners. We want to ensure their work doesn’t go unnoticed. Previous winners of Our Health Heroes Awards have been from a range of backgrounds, working across a variety of healthcare services throughout the UK. Employers, colleagues and peers can all nominate someone they think is deserving of an Our Health Heroes Award.

The deadline to make your nomination is the 29th June 2019. Finalists and winners will then be decided by an expert panel of judges, with individual award categories being open to a public vote later in the year. The awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday 20th November at London’s Science Museum where finalists and winners will be presented with their award.

Each nomination must be submitted on a separate form. Incomplete forms will not be considered.
